Yay!!! It will be interesting to see if Soderbergh can hit another 'homerun' with a big ensemble cast!
Here's a little more from the MTV Movie Blog:
Ocean's Eleven" (and beyond) director Steven Soderbergh is busy these days with "Knockout," an action/thriller starring mixed martial arts fighter Gina Carano... along with a whole mess of other people. Seriously, with a cast that includes Ewan McGregor, Michael Fassbender, Michael Angarano, Channing Tatum and Michael Douglas, "Knockout" is starting to look a lot like one of those "Ocean's" movies. Especially now that two more have entered the fray.
Antonio Banderas and Bill Paxton are now on board, Variety reports. The Playlist further reveals that Paxton arrives to replace Dennis Quaid and that "Gothika" director Mathieu Kassovitz has joined "in an undisclosed role."
Carano will star in "Knockout" -- her starring feature -- as a "top-level private security operative" who goes on the run after she learns that both her employer and her government have betrayed her. Paxton steps in to replace Quaid as the father of Carano's character. Banderas will play a (presumably smooth-talking) foreign agent who somehow becomes involved in Carano's investigation.
This is a big cast, no question. The top-level names are perhaps not as high-profile as the George Clooney/Brad Pitt/Matt Damon threesome toplining the "Ocean's" series, but Soderbergh is a master at making ensembles work. I'm definitely looking forward to seeing how "Knockout" comes together.
