Could it be that we will finally see our hero in an action film again soon? Sure hope so! :D

It would be great if Antonio officially take the role, just want to see him more

However, the male leading list and the director seem fantastic, but the leading actress may be a little weak...

Looks like filming on this movie may be starting already according to a Las Vegas news site:

Oscar-winning director Steven Soderbergh, who hand-picked Las Vegan Gina Carano to star in his new film, "The Knockout," has surrounded her with a strong cast. On board for the spy flick: Michael Douglas, Antonio Banderas, and Channing Tatum. She leaves Tuesday for Ireland to start principal photography. ...

Anybody seen anything more on Antonio actually signing for this one?

It's confirmed -- from Variety --

Pair set for 'Knockout'

Banderas, Paxton join Soderbergh film

By DAVE MCNARY

Antonio Banderas and Bill Paxton are joining the cast of Steven Soderbergh's action-thriller "Knockout" opposite martial arts champ Gina Carano.

Ewan McGregor and Michael Fassbender have been announced previously as cast members.
Relativity Media's fully financing with Lionsgate distributing domestically and representing the film internationally. Gregory Jacobs and Ryan Kavanaugh are producing with Tucker Tooley exex producing.
"Knockout" marks the screen starring debut of Carano, portraying a top-level private security operative who's convinced she's been betrayed by her boss and the government and goes on the run to prove her suspicions are true.

Paxton will portray her father and Banderas will play a foreign operative drawn into the mission of revenge.
Script was written by Lem Dobbs, who previously worked with Soderbergh on "The Limey" and "Kafka."
Soderbergh's most recent project was "The Informant."

Banderas recently completed "The Big Bang" and "You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger. Paxton's in his fourth season on "Big Love."

Yay!!! It will be interesting to see if Soderbergh can hit another 'homerun' with a big ensemble cast!

Here's a little more from the MTV Movie Blog:

Ocean's Eleven" (and beyond) director Steven Soderbergh is busy these days with "Knockout," an action/thriller starring mixed martial arts fighter Gina Carano... along with a whole mess of other people. Seriously, with a cast that includes Ewan McGregor, Michael Fassbender, Michael Angarano, Channing Tatum and Michael Douglas, "Knockout" is starting to look a lot like one of those "Ocean's" movies. Especially now that two more have entered the fray.

Antonio Banderas and Bill Paxton are now on board, Variety reports. The Playlist further reveals that Paxton arrives to replace Dennis Quaid and that "Gothika" director Mathieu Kassovitz has joined "in an undisclosed role."

Carano will star in "Knockout" -- her starring feature -- as a "top-level private security operative" who goes on the run after she learns that both her employer and her government have betrayed her. Paxton steps in to replace Quaid as the father of Carano's character. Banderas will play a (presumably smooth-talking) foreign agent who somehow becomes involved in Carano's investigation.

This is a big cast, no question. The top-level names are perhaps not as high-profile as the George Clooney/Brad Pitt/Matt Damon threesome toplining the "Ocean's" series, but Soderbergh is a master at making ensembles work. I'm definitely looking forward to seeing how "Knockout" comes together.
