IN FASHION OR OUT OF IT
Antonio Always Has Style
This page features
Antonio -- at times totally casual and other times "dressed to the nines".
Whether he's casually dressed, playing the Latin lover, in daring or conservative formal
attire, or in Highland plaids -- Antonio has his own style independent of current trends
Style is inherent in
Antonio. It really isn't the way he dresses... It's far beyond that. Sometimes he's even a
bit careless with his clothes. Antonio personifies style in his gestures and by the
comfort he feels with his own body whether in a tuxedo or in swimming trunks. He can
change his hair style, short, buzz cut, long, naturally curly, straight, slicked back,
with or without facial hair. He can add glasses for a movie. And he still has
"IT".

Are the boots above, so appropriate for his
environs, or the ones on the left worn with formal wear the ones that made Antonio the
butt of Madonna's awkward joke (she'd never date a man in cowboy boots)? Do you know the
occasion? Click on the picture for all to be clear. |
| The casual Antonio is no clothes horse,
definitely going for comfort. His most personal statement is his headgear. -- he favors
baseball caps forwards or back. He appears to have a large collection of all colors. Top
row, Antonio with Dakota in Marbella after a very short haircut and returning home after
receiving the Valentino award. Sharon C. tells us that wearing a baseball hat in Spain is
an indication of how "Americanized" Antonio has become.
When not in a baseball
cap, he also likes to wear bandanas. Middle row: jogging, and arriving in Buenos Aires to
film Evita. [right before his hair was cut to play Ché.]
Third row: Oops! Antonio
is caught a little dishelved. On the left, check out the boots, shorts, and t-shirt. On the
right, with his family on a balcony, Antonio looks like he just woke up. Jet lag, no
doubt. |

Antonio in some examples of formal attire: Top row:
left, Antonio at the Valentino Awards
in Berlin, September 1996; right dressed for one of his roles of Ché in Evita.
Middle row: left at the
Roman premiere of Evita 1996; right, Carnival of Hope Benefit 1996 -- Antonio's and Mel's
first public appearance together after Stella's birth.
Bottom row: left, at the
Los Angeles premiere of Evita. Gossip columnist Tanya Hart gave Antonio rave reviews, but
dressed similarly at the Golden Globes the tradition-bound brigade didn't appreciate his
panache. Melissa Rivers actually named him "worst dressed"; right, 1994 Oscars
in which Antonio introduced Bruce Springsteen. Note the collarless shirt and no tie,
cutting edge at the time.
Note: For formal
occasions, Antonio often wears his hair slicked back ala Mambo Kings. Antonio seems to
favor Armani of late in formal wear design. |
