Another controversial
film, this time about a re-encounter between siblings after the
brother had escaped from their incestuous relationship. Antonio
continues his trend of interpreting tormented characters.
Director Paco Perinan
feels that Antonio is an ideal person to film with because, independent
of his ability as an actor, he has a very positive side. Perinan
says, "Antonio is a super-colaborator. He is not afraid of
anything and he has a great capacity for disconnecting. He absorbs
everything like a sponge."
Perinan thinks that
the secret to Antonio's great interpretive force resides in his
eyes. "Antonio has this gift, of a potent, powerful and open
look. So open that through them you could penetrate, even thrust
yourself, deeply into him."
The director was
impressed by the peculiar system of preparation that Antonio carried
out before submerging in his character. Before shooting Antonio
develops a special series of physical warm-ups by means of exercises
and violent movements that have nothing to do with his character
. "It appears as if he loads energy," explains Paco Perinan,
"and then he was prepared. He did the script, and immediately
after the cut he is disconnected. He was relaxed. I think that an
actor exists between the fragment of time that there is between
the 'Action' and the 'Cut' and in that fragment one must put forth
the maximum possible energy. Antonio has got it down to a marvel."
Related Information
This is Antonio's second film with
Emma Suarez. They had filmed La Blanca Paloma together.
Antonio fell off a rock while
making this film and spent three months in a neck collar.
Unable to film or perform on stage -- the 29-year-old got
an organ and a piano method book and learned to play.
