In this unusual film Antonio plays the leader of a band of street performers who use stilts in their act. Antonio's character is married to another of the performers and they have a baby daughter. Their next-door neighbor is a lonely older man (Fernando Fernan Gomez) who has lost his wife and he develops a passion for Antonio's wife after the young couple befriend him. It is a very sad film as the neighbor's loneliness is overwhelming and his passion misplaced.

Antonio is very impressive on stilts.

Related Information

Antonio started playing guitar when he was fourteen years old. His teacher was one of his many uncles. In "Los Zancos" Antonio plays a bit of electric guitar.

Director and teacher Hector Faver, who saw the young Antonio in "Los Zancos", commented to his students that Antonio was an actor to follow, that he would go far.

The same year that Antonio filmed "Los Zancos" he appeared on stage in "Edward II" in the role of Gavestom. The actors worked in a circle of earth completely enclosed by the public. It played to sold-out audiences and great critical success. Juan Echanove remembers seeing Antonio as a great actor in "Edward II": "I first saw his grandness as an actor." Julieta Serrano agreed: "I remember that the first time I saw his force was in "Edward II", and he seemed to me a stupendous actor and one with great attractiveness and charisma."
